Call for Submissions
The Conference Committee invites conceptual and empirical papers on one or more of the following topics. The topics relate to promoting diversity and inclusivity in classrooms where English is taught as a foreign, second, additional or international language, and include, but are not limited to:
- teaching students from marginalised groups
- teaching students with special educational needs
- learners’ unique experiences, voices, learning strategies and behaviours
- teacher experiences and reflections on enhanced support for student learning
- current educational policies that promote diversity, inclusivity, equity, and/or belonging
- inclusive curriculum, pedagogy and assessment
- assistive technologies, accessible resources and diverse instructional materials in ways that are not commonly addressed before
- critical pedagogy as connected to diversity and inclusivity
- parental/family engagement with schools for promoting inclusion
- identity, gender and equality
- equity in the classroom and/or equitable pedagogy
- respect for diversity and a sense of belonging in educational settings
- student/teacher well-being and belonging
- teacher beliefs, attitudes and practices in relation to diversity and inclusivity
- teacher education and continuing professional development with diversity and inclusivity in mind
Timing and Proposal Assessment Criteria
These are 20-minute formal lecture presentations that include 10 minutes of questions and answers time (total 30 minutes). These presentations may report empirical findings, offer syntheses of theories or approaches, present case studies or share best practices.
Abstracts will be reviewed against the following criteria:

- conciseness, coherence, clarity and focus of presentation
- theoretical orientation
- methodology (research projects only)
